Exploring Mesotherapy: A Comprehensive Solution for Hair Loss
Understanding Mesotherapy for Hair Loss
Mesotherapy is a non-surgical treatment option involving micro-injections of a solution with minoxidil and/or dutasteride directly into the scalp.
Benefits of Mesotherapy
Lower risk of long-term systemic side effects, given low treatment frequency.
Injected drugs have proven clinical benefits for pattern hair loss.
Positive results for both women and men.
Clinically beneficial even in patients who did not sufficiently respond to topical and/or oral modalities.
Intradermal application delivers drugs directly to the hair follicles.
Effective in preventing hair loss and promoting new hair growth.
Suitable Candidates
Clinical studies have shown that hair-loss injections containing dutasteride and minoxidil can effectively promote hair growth in both women and men, regardless of skin complexion and hair texture. Women in their childbearing years may also be eligible, provided a candid discussion with a licensed provider addresses their current and future family intentions. For those women not planning to conceive or not facing pregnancy risks, mesotherapy stands as an excellent choice. Even in cases where dutasteride is not selected as a treatment option, the use of minoxidil alone in hair-loss injections can yield noticeable improvements.
Mesotherapy Treatment Process
Before treatment, the hair and scalp are cleaned and prepared, often with the application of a numbing cream to minimize discomfort. The solution is then injected into the scalp. Post-treatment, slight tenderness and redness may occur but typically dissipate within hours.
Frequency of Mesotherapy
The frequency of treatments varies based on individual needs and the severity of hair loss. Most individuals require an initial series of treatments spaced 3-4 weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments every 3-6 months to sustain results.
Mesotherapy vs. Other Treatments
Compared to alternative treatments such as topical applications, hair transplants, and laser therapy, mesotherapy stands out for its non-invasiveness, minimal downtime, and versatility in addressing various hair loss conditions. It can also complement other treatments to enhance efficacy.

SUMMARY
Mesotherapy with Dutasteride for Androgenetic Alopecia: Retrospective Study
Objective: To assess the safety and effectiveness of mesotherapy with dutasteride for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in real clinical practice.
Method: Retrospective study on 541 AGA patients receiving mesotherapy with dutasteride. Data on treatment response and side effects were analyzed.
Results: Mesotherapy with dutasteride was effective in improving hair loss in both men and women. Pain was the most common side effect, but generally mild and self-limiting. No serious adverse events were reported.
Conclusion: Mesotherapy with dutasteride is a safe and effective option for AGA treatment, especially for patients wishing to avoid oral medications. Treatment every three months showed promising results.

SUMMARY
Intradermal injections with 0.5% minoxidil for the treatment of female androgenetic alopecia: A randomized, placebo-controlled trial
This study investigated the effectiveness and safety of intradermal injections of 0.5% minoxidil for treating female androgenetic alopecia (FAGA). A randomized, placebo-controlled trial involving 54 women diagnosed with FAGA compared the treatment group receiving minoxidil injections to a placebo group. Evaluation methods included biopsy, trichogram, Trichoscan analysis, and self-assessment.
Results showed a significant improvement in hair density, an increase in the percentage of anagen hairs, and a better self-reported reduction in hair loss and volume in the minoxidil group compared to placebo. The study concluded that intradermal minoxidil injections were more effective than placebo with a good safety profile, suggesting a potential alternative therapy for FAGA.

SUMMARY
This study compared dutasteride intralesional microinjections (DIM) plus oral minoxidil (OM) versus OM alone in men with androgenetic alopecia (AGA). They conducted a retrospective study on 105 male AGA patients who declined oral 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors. DIM involved monthly dutasteride injections mixed with saline into the alopecic area for three months. Results showed both groups had improvement, with the OM plus DIM group showing better outcomes in the vertex area. No sexual dysfunction was reported. The study suggests DIM with OM could be an effective and safe alternative for AGA in men.
